Take a Hike, Pal
No, really. Get out there.
Because we care about you so much, we have dedicated the entire month of September to ‘Getting Back to You.’ If you’ve missed any of those earth-shattering posts, check out our blog for some ideas on getting out and enjoying our town.
Before we get started on this one, however, we stopped in to chat with Carla Parra, owner of La Jolla’s Little Vitamin Shop, for some quick and healthy ideas to take better care of ourselves. While Carla had a ton of insight, an easy this-is-for-everyone suggestion was to start proactively counteracting the onslaught of sugar and glucose-spiking coming your way with some chromium polynicotinate and alpha lipoic acid (pictured below). Carla recommended taking these once in the morning and once at night, but we’d recommend going in to talk with her and checking out all she has to offer, right around the corner on Wall St. Take that, football season and holiday weight-gain.

Now that you’ve exorcised the sugar demons, it’s time to sweat out the rest of the week / end’s toxins. Yoga, friends. La Jolla Sports Club yoga instructors are some of the best in town, and with our range of levels and personalities, you’ll be sure to find a class or two that works for you. Maybe check out the Sunday morning class and then…
Cool and crisp and colorful, fall offers a wide variety of activities around San Diego. One our favorites–that often and surprisingly gets overlooked–is Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Whether you want to take an introspective stroll or grab a picnic with friends, Torrey Pines offers the perfect hiking getaway, just up the road. Depending on your level of ability or desire of exertion, Torrey Pines offers plenty of options. People come from all over the world to experience these hikes, so if you have the time, try the different routes and become a guru for your out-of-town guests. Keep your eyes peeled for the gliders swirling above, who offer a playful juxtaposition to the very humanizing nature around you.
And if you’re feeling a little… cheeky… there’s always Black’s Beach.
