Kids Back to School? Get Back to You!
Let’s all take a moment of silence. To celebrate our freedom. The kids are back in school! Now let’s get back to you.
Not to mention, Labor Day weekend is upon us, which means your favorite taco joint is going to get a little less crowded (cough, Taco Stand), there will be less clueless drivers on the road (except for at the intersection of Draper and Pearl for some reason) and we get to experience the best beach months in San Diego (looking at you, October and November) without having to worry about parking. Yes, it’s a good thing we have going on here.
So, let’s assume you’ve organized the leftover summer chaos, paid those bills and suffered at the DMV–what are you going to do with all of this free time? Luckily for you, we here at La Jolla Sports Club have you covered with a few ideas. Living in such an amazing town, we sometimes forget all of the options we have. Here’s an LJSC-approved local, sporty, healthy day:
7:00am – 7:45am – Head to our friends at Brick & Bell for a tasty pre-workout coffee and / or breakfast. Choose anything, really, you’re in good hands.

8:00am – 9:00am – After you’ve woken up a bit, depending on your level of intensity, we have a lot of classes to choose from: Stretching, Yoga, Spinning or High Intensity. Check our schedule here!
9:00am – 10:30am – Keep the healthy momentum going and bike or jog (use intervals to burn some extra calories) down to Windansea beach. Depending on the day, Windansea gets some of the biggest, most-consistent waves in San Diego. Chances are, you’ll be able to watch some fun rides from locals and pros alike, so don’t forget to take your camera.
10:30am – 11:30am – If you have time and are feeling adventurous, head south towards Bird Rock to explore the little rock outjuts along the way (Editor’s note: one of them is my favorite place in all of San Diego).
11:30am – 1:00pm – When you’re done, hop on the bike path east of La Jolla Blvd back to Lean & Green Cafe for an incredibly tasty and healthy lunch. The Super Bowl with chicken and extra sriracha is on point.
1:00pm – 3:00pm – Belly full of tasty food, it’s time to walk it off and up to the tide pools for shells (aim for low tide, preferably a negative tide), Children’s Pool for some seals and / or up to the Sunny Jim Sea Cave for the only land access to a sea cave in California ($5).

3:00pm – 4:00pm – At this point, you should be ready for a midday siesta. Lull yourself to sleep with the negative ions and breaking waves at Ellen Browning Scripps Park.
4:00pm – ? – What’s that, you’re rested and ready for happy hour? You read our minds. Luckily we have a few places in the village where you can enjoy a sunset drink.
OK, there you go, you’ve burned a ton of calories and hopefully had a good time exploring some of our forgotten treasures. Enjoy them now before Memorial Day!
